In order to master transmission lines operating conditions,timely discover equipment defects and abnormal conditions that threat the operation of line safety,and provide the basis for transmission lines maintenance,it is necessary to keep inspection for transmission lines.With the appearance of high-voltage,large-power,long-distance transmission lines,and the geography environments limitation of transmission lines that more and more far away from cities and main traffic roads,the existing inspection modes that are major ground inspection couldn't satisfy the partial requests;The development of GIS and GPS,and the constant popularization of general aviation services provide a new technical method for the construction and operation maintenance.Therefore,it seems to be particularly important that design an efficient , intelligent , closely in conformity with the developing trends of transmission lines inspection system.First of all,this paper analyzes the existing inspection modes in China and the present situation and development trend of helicopter power job at home and abroad . Secondly , it makes detailed description about the theoretical knowledge,such as line inspection,GPS,GIS,etc.Then,it conducts the requirements analysis according to the principle of system design,and designs logical structure and function modules of the system.Finally,the database and main functions of the system are realized based on Windows XP,Microsoft SQL Server 2000,Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and GIS component MapX.The paper places emphasis on the design and implementation of the patrol inspection system of transmission lines.The keys of this paper show as follows:1.In view of the shortcomings of the existing inspection modes in China,and with the combination of the geographic information processing ability of GIS,the precisely positioning of GPS and the advantage of patrol inspection with helicopter,the general design scheme is proposed and every function module of the system is analyzed and designed in detail.2.The system's database including spatial database and non-spatial database is developed according to the demand of the system.In this system,it stores geographic information by using the table form of MapInfo such as *. map, *. tab, *. dat, etc, and it stores non-spatial data by using relational database Microsoft SQL Server 2000.It makes the data structure having normative,independence and reusability.3.The GIS software products which widely apply at present are trialed and evaluated;The GIS software that developing this system is selected--MapX;he implementation method that developing GIS software based on MapX is studied.The subsystem of map display and transmission line query is designed and carried out , including zoom out , zoom in , pan and corresponding information inquiry, the length measurement of line, and" Eagle Eye"function in inspection visualization,etc.4.The combination of GIS and GPS by using MapX is realized.The functions,which the signal acquisition and transmission of GPS receiver and the dynamic display of GPS information in GIS,etc,are mainly completed.5.Considering of the issue about safety and reliability,the system uses the access mode depending on combination of authentication and privilege management , and the functions of backup and recovery of database are designed.The patrol inspection system of transmission lines with helicopter is a good-size synthesis information system;it is provided with well expansibility and reiteration . This paper makes a primary exploration , and it need more exploitation and perfection in practice.
