The urban rail transport profile design work load to be very much heavy and it need to be repeatedly modified, through computer-aided design can save a lot of manpower, improve design efficiency. In this paper, the related knowledge and theory of the urban rail transport profile design is described, and the profile CAD system is designed on the basis of this. AutoCAD is as a secondary development platform of this system, and it direct access to databases of AutoCAD and custom entities. That user operate this system and operate system of AutoCAD is no difference. The system has powerful dynamic interactive capabilities, friendly design interface, and user's operation is simple and convenient.A lot of data and a large number of design results are included in the urban rail transport profile design process, and the Microsoft Access database which is Simple easy-to-operate is as a data management tool in this system. For the urban rail transport elevation control points, the functions are provided that user can dynamic interactive insert, move and delete. In the process of slope design, dynamic drag and interactive dialog functions are provided to user. The powerful revision functions are included in this system, and users can change design information such as the slope, the vertical curve, elevation control points. For users of design information, the system provides a wealth of enquiry function. The user's design results are inspected which is use the latest norms, the unqualified design information will be special logo, and can be output with report form. System's drawings output is adapt to the needs of users, drawings are saved as "dwg" of AutoCAD, the user's design results are stored in the database.A lot of graphic interactive technology which are used in the system and a detailed exposition are included in this paper. Some graphics interactive technology are involved in this paper; they are the information grid positioning interactive technology, dialog interactive technology, "elastic" pulling slope interactive technology, picking up with mouse interactive technology, and the system fault-tolerant interactive technology.The system which is designed in this paper has been confirmed with a concrete example. It have be fully embodied the operating system the friendly interface and excellent dynamic interactive system capacity in the verification process, and system verification results show that the system fully meet the urban rail transport design requirements.In this paper, the system is designed in the Windows XP operating system, using Visual C++6.0 as a system compiler platform, AutoCAD 2002 as a graphic supporting environment, Microsoft Access2000 as data management tools, with ObjectARX 2002 as the system of secondary development tools.
