Electric locomotive transmission control devices, as one of the key technical equipment, is the "nerve center" and the "brains" of electric locomotive. At present, SS4 electric locomotive drive control system is based on the characteristic control and closed-loop control structure. Its current and speed regulators are analog regulators with the analog operational amplifiers as main components. The parameters of this kind of analog controller are fixed, the control structure is simple, stable and easy to achieve in project. However, the adjustment process depends on object model parameters of the system, and the dynamic performance and robustness of the control system is poor.For the features of multi-target, large lag, non-linear in the process of train operation, the paper analyzed the principle of DC electric locomotive and the principle and methods of transmission system. It also researched fuzzy control theory and the method applied in the electric locomotive transmission control system. The existing DC Speed Control System on electric locomotive depends on the model of object, with poor robustness and anti-disturbance capacity is not strong. The paper attempted to applied fuzzy control to the control system of electric locomotive. The paper designed a speed regulation system which combined fuzzy control regulator and PI control regulator. The new speed regulation had advantages of both of the two control theories, such as the rapid and strong robustness of fuzzy control and the high precision of PI control which can improve the performance of the speed regulation system on electric locomotives.With MATLAB / Simulink simulation tools based on the speed intelligent control system of locomotive which designed in the paper, the paper gave the results of simulation and analysis when the load, voltage and circuit parameters changed. Finally, the paper introduced the main function of the system and the method of design.
