In china various locomotives service on many mountain railway lines which are characteristic of low-grade,high slope and small radiu curve. These locomotives have appeared a lot of problems,so development in new type locomotive is necessary to meet the need.When the traditional 2Co locomotive runs in a curve with smaller radius,not only the speed of curve negotiation reduces but also the wheel-rail wear increases,as the lateral wheel-rail force and the attack angle between wheel and rail increase.In consideration of solving these problems design of the radial bogie of 2C0 locomotive and the 3B0 locmotive came into being.Compared with the traditional 2C0 locomotive,the two locomotives run on those curves with good dynamic performance.But the view of things is always divided into two, the traditional 2C0 locomotive,the radial bogie of 2C0 locomotive and the 3B0 locomotive have their different advantages and existing ploblems in different operating conditions.Combining theory with practical operation,the paper illustrates those adantages and problems based on establishing these three meter-gauge six-axes diesel locmotive simulation models by muti-body dynamic software SIMPACK,.The riding quality of the 3B0 locomotive is not as good as the two 2C0 one on the straight line,but it has smaller derailment coefficient, wheel rail lateral force,wheel load reduction ratio and incidence angle on the very small radius curves.Because of these advantages,the 3B0 locomotive especially runs on those poor lines with many curve radius(under 150m)The radial 2C0 locomotive also has a good performance of curve negotiation with small wheel rail lateral force and light wheel-rail wear.Although it's not as good as the 3B0 locomotive on the very small radius curves,the radial 2C0 locomotive has obvious advantages on the curves that radius are over 150m.The traditional 2C0 locomotive has the worst performance of small radius curve negotiation and it adapts to run on those curves that radius are over 400m.The 3B0 locomotive has good dynamic performance on a very small radius curve,but its middle bogie structure is more complex and not easy to produce and maintain So,the paper presents a new type of 3B0 locomotive structure which the middle and end of the bogie can be exchanged and analyses the feasibility of curve negotiation which radius is 62m from the view of geometrical curve negotiating. Establishing the corresponding dynamic modle and considering shearing deformation of the secondary rubber suspension and the dynamic performance of locomotive,the paper obtains the best secondary lateral stop clearance for the new type of 3B0 locomotive and calculates integrated dynamic performance under this stop clearance.In addition,the paper also describes the difference between the three bogies balancing the centrifugal force of car-body between the traditional 3B0 locomotive and the new type one over curves.Research shows that the dynamic performance difference between the new type of 3B0 locomotive and the traditional one is very small.The new type one not only simplifies middle bogie of the locomotive structure,but also more adapts to production and daily maintenance.Generally speaking, the new type of 3B0 locomotive is suitable for mountain railway and can save a lot of costs.And it has a borad prospect.
