Disinfection by-products (DBP), caused by free chlorine disinfection, are considered to be a serious threat to people's health and catch more and more attention of world these years. The purpose of this paper is to guarantee the security of water quality when it runs through the distribution networks. Takes the water supply system of Tianjin college and a laboratory water distribution network as objects, a systemic and profound work on the prediction and the change rule of DBP is done in this paper.Firstly, a water quality-measuring scheme is formulated, associating the practice of water distribution system of the demonstration areas. Then, water quality information is obtained from on-site monitoring of the sampling points of networks after a month's sampling. Also, this paper studied the measurement of HAAs, and probed the feasible measurement of ion chromatography.Secondly, a large quantity of data by continual water quality monitoring, the change rule of water quality in distribution network is studied, the effect on HAAs of residual chlorine pH, temperature, turbidity, NH3-N, NPOC etc. is analyzed.Thirdly, by continual water quality monitoring, the change rule of HAAs in distribution network is studied. This paper presents the application of two empirical models for simulating and forecasting HAAs within drinking water distribution systems. They are multivariate linear regressive model and multivariate nonlinear regressive model. The development of both models is founded on representative data from the laboratory water systems mentioned above. The results demonstrate both models have a satisfactory effect, and can be used to the prediction of practical water supply system. In evaluating all the given data, simulation results show a similar performance for both of the models. At last, the complete investigation about the prediction and control of DBP in water supply system is accomplished, which can help guiding experience and improving water quality.
