Analysis And Improvement On The Horological Chronograph Mechanism

It is complicated to design and manufacture chronograph. To show the chronograph function within tiny space means possessing both the counting function and the capacity of reading normal time clearly. Because chronograph not only serves athletes and fanciers as a special watch, but also belongs to a kind of practical classic watch.Presently column wheel mechanism and cam mechanism are widely used. Column wheel mechanism has clear motion and handsome appearance, while cam mechanism is composed of rocking pinion drives with simple structure, economical manufacture and reliable function.The main research target is the column wheel mechanism. The thesis explains its components, illustrates the principle of the counting function and analyzes the key parts of the motioning process. It also deeply studies the factors that influence the starting jump and flyback, and deduces an equation of heart cam curve. The thesis draws on the analysis of finite element in SOLIDWORKS software, providing theoretical instruction for the adjustment and improvement of chronograph mechanism as well as making the design of pole parts more convenient and rational. It explores a more effective approach to correct assembling procedures and key parts, such as the adjustment of the height of intermediate chronograph wheel and inadequate strengthening springs.The thesis studies the cam chronograph mechanism, discusses its advantages and disadvantages, compares the features of the two types of mechanism, and eventually figures out the valuable impact of various factors on chronograph mechanism.The thesis analyzes and summarizes the key points of mechanism and parts in the practical manufacturing process of chronograph mechanism, and meanwhile puts forward the measures of improvement to instruct the making of the technical flow and the quality control in relevant respects.
