Reactive power compensation may improve voltage quality and reduce the loss of the line. Along with the power electronic device to large capacity, high frequency direction development, the research on compensating reactive power using static compensation device is one of the most active areas in power system subject. The static var generator (SVG) is an important Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controller. The thesis proposes the realization method of SVG based on DSP, studing and analyzing it deeply.Firstly, the existing compensation devices are compared and the superior performance of SVG is analyzed in this thesis; Secondly, the development of power theory is introduced, and the emphasis is the instantaneous reactive power theory; In addition, the instantaneous reactive power theory and its application to SVG are introduced. This thesis introduces SVG's working principle, on this foundation, establishes its mathematics model in stable state for the simulaton and the control of SVG.This thesis discusses some kinds of control methods of SVG, one is the direct current control and the other is indirect current control. Compared with the indirect control, the direct control has more superior performance in current tracking speed and control property. The simulation to SVG system is processed and the result of simulation proved the correctness of the mathematic model and control strategy.Controlled by DSP has more superior performance in accuracy and real-time performance, this thesis takes DSP TMS320F2407A that Texas Instruments Incorporated introduces newly as master control chip, hardware circuit and software platform are designed.
