The railway between Hefei and Nanjing is located the east of Hanrong dedicated passenger railway,which is an important part of"four transverse and four lengthwise"quick passenger transport network.The line designed 200km per hour(250km per hour goal-speed) for passenger transport now also services freight traffic of 120km per hour for the short term. The length of railway bed along Hefei and Nanjing is 84.5% of totoal length of the line where there almost exists higher Pleistocene series clay of the Quaternary (called Xiashu caly)with a medium and low expansion character.In the developed countries such as Germany,France and Japan,experience and technique of constructing first-class high-speed railways can be got,however, systemic method of construction process of swelled ground is lacked.In the domestic,expansive soils,as a kind of filling material after improvement,is widely used in the road engineering in the area lacking of filling material,but there is no practice and experience of building the trans-section continuously welded rail(CWR)track on the swelled ground or the improved swelled ground.The article have a research on the improvement of swelled soil along Feidong part belonging to the railway of Hefei and Nanjing and the technique of construction,through related experiences, get enough data and put forward a plan for the improvement of swelled soil and the technique of construction.
