Durability of concrete has been a focus of research domestically and internationally in recent years. By different purposes, the research mainly aims at such aspects as corrosion mechanism, evaluation means, anti-corrosion methods and etc. Formulation of relevant standards and research of complete durability design method are in brewing and exploration. Tianjin, located in the coast of Bohai Sea, is an important port city in the north of China. In addition, Binhai New Area is seeing an early construction period. In meeting the need of such condition, concrete durability research has unprecedentedly progressed and developed in Tianjin area.Based on a great deal of information on concrete durability design both from home and abroad, in particular, and by referring to A Guide for Durability Design and Construction of Concrete Structures and Rules for Durability Design of Reinforced Concrete Bridges of Tianjin, we put forth the idea of concrete durability design for bridges based on degraded mode and structural parts, which is suitable for Tianjin area. In this research, analysis mainly focuses on corrosion status of concrete structures in Tianjin area as well as characteristics of environment. It is suggested that durability degraded mode based design method is applied according to different parts of reinforced concrete structures and different corrosion mechanisms. Besides, considering the market situation of anti-corrosion raw materials that can be used in Tianjin area, typical examples of concrete mix ratio are given, in which mix ratio calculation and application in projects are involved. It is expected that by investigating and researching the corrosion environment in Binhai area, dividing corrosion classifications and identifying corrosion level, in accordance with the idea of concrete durability design for bridges based on degraded mode and structural parts, and through engineering practice, an anti-corrosion scheme can be raised with respect to building of concrete bridges in Tianjin Binhai area.And by means of practical engineering application, durability research data are accumulated and the idea of concrete durability design for bridges based on degraded mode and structural parts is publicized, so as to further improve the application technology of durable concrete engineering in Tianjin.
