Concrete structure may age gradually even damage or destroy under the long-term natural environment and service conditions, which may affect the function and safety of structures, so the durability is one of main contents of reliability analysis for a structure.Reinforcing steel corrosion is the main reason leading to reduce of durability of concrete structures. Especially in marine and deicing salt environment, due to chloride contaminated, reinforcement corrosion, which may crack the concrete cover, is a very common problem. Scholars in and abroad have done a lot of research in the field of reinforcement corrosion, mainly focous on corrosion rate, function of corroded component etc. But there is little study on evaluation of concrete components after reinforcement corroded, such as degree of resistance attenuation, and reliability.Based on the corrosion mechanism of chloride into concrete, the author established a new diffusion model considering the effect of time dependence of diffusion coefficient and the transverse cracks. Moreover, the paper discussed the parameters in the model, and calculated the initiation time of reinforcing steel corrosion. The author also established the crack condition of concrete due to reinforcement corrosion, durability limit state equation and life assessment criteria of structures in chloride contaminated environment. The paper calculated the developing reliability index considering the effect of resistance attenuation and analysed the durability of concrete structures.A project insistence is used to compare the developing reliability index with two different corrosion rate named as Kim and Chun Qing Li corrosion rate. Also the author calculated the different corroded stage of the structure.
