Because of the corrosive working environment and many other reasons (design,construction, maintenance and etc. ) , the resistance of R. C. structures in service under environment of chloride ions' invasion will decline with the service time as a result of the corrosion of reinforcement or concrete, and this will affect the use of the R.C. structures in the residual service time. So after the structures have been used for years, it is important to evaluate the safety of the structures, predict its residual service life and choose the optimum maintenance strategy. Further instruct the design of newly built structures and the normal use of the structures in service.In this paper, based on the previous research result, by using experiment, monitoring, theory of electrochemical mechanism, environment science, probability math, fuzzy math, structure reliability theory, basic theory of concrete structures, structure optimum design ,theory of control, maintenance strategy decision theory of R. C. structures and etc. , evaluate the reliability of the R. C. structures in service under chemical environment, and consider the real character of the chemical R. C. structures in service, set up the corrosion control theory and maintenance strategy decision method. Chief works are summarized as follows:1 The durability of R. C. structures in service under environment of chloride ions' invasion and the research level of its coherent subject at home and abroad are summarized. At the same time, the necessity and significance of research for R. C. structures in service under environment of chloride ions' invasion are pointed out.2 According to the real conditions theory of electrochemical mechanism ,the basic corrosion mechanism of environment of chloride ions invasion factors lead to corrosion of the structures, corrosion depth model and field monitoring methods are studied. And the several electrochemical methods used to monitor the corrosion of the reinforcement, and problems meet in the field measurement and the solution methods are analysised.3 Based on research achievements, mechanism of chloride ions invasion ,boundary value of chloride ions content in R. C. Structures and chloride ions diffusion etc. are studied and discussed in this paper. The detection technology of the resistance for chloride ions' permeability in concrete is introduced here, and protection measures for prevention of chloride ions' invasion are also put forward.4 The random corrosion depth model of structures reinforcement is given, the uncertain of structure resistance of corroded structures is studied, the decline law of the parameter functions of the structures resistance are calculated. And the calculation method which can meet the requests of the engineering of the failure probability and corrosion reliability of the corroded structures in service are given.5 Combined with the research findings of theory, correlative detection and structure assess on a sickroom building of central hospital are made, and some useful conclusions is gotten.6 The chief works are summarized and the problems that need to study are provided.
