The standard value of the rebar's tensile strength is 500MPa. Such a type of rebar has many merits, such as high-strength and strong ductility. This kind of rebar has been used prevalently in foreign countries. The application of this type of rebar can save materials by a certain percent. But it has not been taken in the code of our country. In order to popularize this kind of rebar in our country, experimental research on the main characteristic of concrete member with high-strength rebar (500MPa) has been done in this paper. This work is of great significance in the engineering area.The bend performance, especially whether or not these beams can meet the demand of the limit of maximum crack width and the limit of deflection in the code currently in effect were tested and studied. Nine reinforced concrete beams with high-strength reba(r500MPa)were tested and studied. The deformation characteristics of this beams and the effect of some factors on it were investigated through experiment and analyses. It is concluded that under design using load this beams can not meet the demand of the limit of the maximum crack width and the limit of deflection in the code currently in effect. It is also concluded that using enveloping rebar can improve the bend performance of the RC beams with high-strength rebar.Besides the analysis of the experiment, finite analysis based on the experiment has been done. This paper compared the experimental results with the finite element analysis results. They correspond well with each other. The finite analysis used in the bend performance of this beams in this paper is feasible.Through analysis and study, a measure using enveloping rebar in concrete beams with high-strength rebar(500MPa) to meet the demand of the limit of maximum crack width and the limit of deflection in the code currently in effect has been put forward.
