The towing of the submarine pipeline is the one of the most important step in the laying pipeline engineering. It is necessary to study the strength and safety of pipeline in towing engineering due to the ocean loads and other towing factors. Further more with the variety of environment factors and construction stations it requires to look for a proper analytical method and to develop computer program, so that the environment loads and strength property can be forecasted in order to ensure the safety of pipeline in the towing engineering.In this thesis, the laying pipeline methods in abroad and home are summarized, and suitable conditions of different pipeline construction projects are compared and analyzed. The towing engineering in laying construction is particular introduced, and the towing in floating and on bottom are the main investigated subjects By means of analyzing stress state of pipeline the model to calculate strength of pipeline properly is established, and then the strength of pipeline is analyzed by the finite element method.In the thesis the general available program is worked out according to the calculation of loads and the method of safety analysis in towing engineering, so that the deformation and strength of pipeline is quickly obtained under the kinds of construction states, and then this program is encapsulated and issued in virtue of VB.net which have powerful object-oriented program function and graphical user interface technique.The main function of the program is, after inputting kinds of pipe datum and environment datum, to gain some useful results such as arrangement of buoy, required power of tug boat, the strength of steel cable when towing on bottom and else as draft load, deformation and strength of pipeline. Some figs are plotted to obtain the analysis of results, and the results can be output in the shape of text.The accuracy and feasibility of the program has been verified by the computation of certain engineering.
