Submarine plough is a kind of special underwater machinery used as trenching andlaying for pipeline in the benthal. The research subject originated from the project “TheResearch on Trenching Technology and Equipment for Hard Clay” of Offshore OilEngineering Co.Ltd.The purpose of the project is to design and develop the submarine ploughtrench cutter with independent intellectual property rights.Firstly, the paper provided overall design scheme and the whole structure layoutaccording to the submarine plough. This dissertation mainly studies on the docking assemblyand pipe handling equipment of the plough. The main function of docking assembly is to takeup and deal with the pipeline. The pipe handling equipment is comprised of lifting grab androller device, and the main function of it is to pick up and deal with the pipeline. The paper designed the main detailed structure of the docking assembly and pipehandling equipment and established the soft of SolidWorks. It carryed out mechanicalanalysis and calculation of some key parts, and checked strength of structure by using thefinite element software acconding to the stress state of the components. It discussed thestructure forms and checked methods of weldingline and verified the rationality of thestructure design. Finally, it conducted the dynamic simulation of the plough and calculated the mainparameters of hydraulic cylinder. The experiment on land of submarine plough was carryedout and measured the size of trench and main forces. The results of this experiment verifiedthat the design and analysis of submarine plough was correct, which is beneficial to theoptimal design of the then plough.
