As a new type of structure, before the thin-walled steel-concrete composite structures (TWSCS) are used in practical engineering, the details of construction and the loading mechanism of joints need to be deeply investigated first. Based on the existing explorations, the hysteretic behavior test for five joint specimens of TWSCS were conducted under reciprocating load, it can be reference for the future study. The main works are listed as follows:(1) Five joint specimens which are composed of five different kinds of beam and square concrete-filled thin-walled steel tube column have been experimentally investigated under reciprocating load on beam tip in order to get their hysteretic behaviors. Because the specimens were designed according to the loading situation of the beams under symmetrical minus moment, the reformation for loading position at beam tips was made before testing. The test setup to achieve the cyclical load on beam was also designed and made. Acoording to test phenomenon and results, two kinds of failure modes (failure of beam and failure of joint range) are abtained, and some practical construction measures are also suggested.(2) The test data have been analyzed, in which the hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, displacement ductility, deformation behaviors, stiffness changes, energy dissipation, bearing capacity and the strain of steel sheet and reinforcement bar are included. The loading mechanism of joints under reciprocating load has been expounded elementarily also. It is found that the aseismic behavior and bearing capacity of specimen JD-D is the best one in those five specimens, so it is worth extending in practice of engineering.(3) Simplified calculation method and models of skeleton curves have been explored on the basis of test phenomenon and results, which fit the test curves well. So the theory of common composite structure can be used for thin-walled steel-concrete composite structure after properly revised.
