The coal gas metrology system designed in this paper is used to coal gas trade account between YiLan Coal Gas Factory and Harbin City Gas Corporation. The old metrology system used ROSEMENT 3095MV. It adopted the AGA3 REPORT natural gas standard and didn't measure coal gas density so that the precise of the old metrology system was low. The new developed system was based on the standard orifice flow technique ISO 5167-2003(E),GB/T18215-2000 and JJG 1003-2005《Flow Intergration Meters》.The hardware of the system was composed of standard orifice, ROSEMENT 3095MV, NI low-cost multifunction M Series data acquisition board PCI 6225, Simenz MircoSAM process gas chromatographer, two industrial computers and a server computer. We used 3095MV as a flow transmitter. This way can reduce cost. The coal gas compositions were analyzed by Simenz MicroSAM process gas chromatographer. The two industrial computers collated the data between the tow corporations to prevent the trade bother.The system application software was programmed based on VB6.0 software platform. It can collect data, analyze the compositions, calculate density, display the parameters of temperatures, pressures and differential pressures synchronously, the trend diagram and the PI diagram. The measured data was backed up to the server computer. It also can query historical data, encrypt the data and transmit data remotely. The new developed system has advantages of password protection.This coal gas metrology system accords with national standard and satisfies the need of trade account between the two corporations.
