Biomass is an organic compound generated by photosynthesis, which is the fourth biggest energy source followed by coal, fossil oil and gas. The conversion of biomass energy occupies a very important position for the utilization of renewable energy. Comparing to conventional fuel, biomass has the advantages of low carbon, sulfur and nitrogen contamination, and low density. In addition, it is recyclable and none CO2 release to the environment. Because of these strongpoints, the research of biomass is very important. We analyzed four different kinds of biomass samples by thermogravimetric analysis, the results showed that during combustion and pyrolysis of biomass under the same temperature, the higher rate of temperature increasing, the more plenitude the volatility emanation it is, therefore the less weight it left. By comparison of the combustion curve and the pyrolysis curve, it is found that the combustion requires less heat than the pyrolysis to reduce the same amount of molecular mass.According to the results of thermogravimetric analysis for the samples, the apparent activation energy, related coefficient, and residual variance of the biggest thermogravimetric zone were figured out.According to the records of XRD analysis for the 4 kinds of biomass samples, we concluded the reason of agglomeration.
