Submerged dike is a common offshore structure, which is widely used for coast protection, beach preserving and silt promoting, sea enclosing and land making, wave defending and current leading and so on. Although, a lot of research studies have been done upon such a problem home and abroad and lots of the accomplished results are available. However, because there are many types of the submerged dike, in the real projects and most cases, it still depends on the results of physical model experiments. Especially the researches of the wave transmission and wave breaking over the submerged dike are still not enough, a perfect result is expected to get for the practice in this paper.This paper studies upon the trapezoidal-type submerged rubble dike. Through the physical model experiment, the critical incident wave height over the submerged dike, the breaker height and the break point are analyzed under the action of regular wave. Then through analyzing the main factors, the empirical formulas of transmission coefficient and reflection coefficient are derived. In the mean time, the conditions of the changes of wave height around the submerged dike are given. At last, the research results of the regular wave are applied in the condition of irregular wave, and the applying method of the formula of transmission coefficient in the condition of irregular wave is given.
