Naxi is one of the minority nationalities. She lives in Lijiang of Yunnan in the south west of China. The wood is rich in Lijiang, so timber structure is widely adopted by Naxi people. The construction method of civilian building in Naxi is the same as that of wood structure in tradition. Yunnan Province is located in the southeast of Qingzang Plateau. And it is the convergence and interactional zone of Asia-Europe plate and Indian plate. Because of special structural location and the intense diastrophism, the earthquake in the region has the characteristic of high frequency, high intensity, shallow hypocenter and wide distribution. It is one of the active earthquake regions in the Chinese mainland. In order to keep the style and features of Lijiang, the problems of seismic design must be solved. During the period of constructing harmonious society, it is more important that the problems of seismic design can be solved. The main tasks of this paper are as follows:1. Summarize the plane layout of Naxi civilian building, the type and character of timber frame, the general situation and damage character of earthquake in Yunnan province.2. The Configuration, stress mechanism and Destructive Pattern of mortise-tenon are declared.3. Based on timber structural building of Naxi, the dynamic characteristic analysis of typical civilian building of Naxi is carried out with the application of ANSYS and the natural frequencies and vibration mode are detected. The basic period of the structure is far from the characteristic period.4. Under applying El-Centro earthquake wave to x direction, the dynamic responses of frame-bent structure and frame are respectively analyzed to get acceleration, velocity, displacement, moment , shear force, dynamic response curve, which are verified and that prove timber structure has good seismic behavior. Contrast analyses between the results in the vibration mode of frame-bent structure and the results in the vibration mode of frame.5. Under the action of exceptionally serious earthquakes, the dynamic responses of frame are analyzed further. The weakness of the building is found and the reinforced measure of using Combin14 to simulate fluid viscous damper is put forward. Further more, the effectiveness is verified.
