The use of six-phase synchronous motor for industrial drives presents some advantages over the traditional three-phase synchronous motor drive, such as increasing the reliability of the system, reduce the frequency converter power levels and eliminating the low harmonics. For these reasons, the six-phase synchronous motor more widely used in high-power drive applications.This paper begins with the design of inverter-driven six-phase synchronous motor. Firstly, compare the design method of inverter-driven six-phase synchronous motor with that of conventional synchronous motor. And point out the limitations of design method of conventional synchronous motor which is used in the design of inverter-driven six-phase synchronous motor. In the design of inverter-driven six-phase synchronous motor, the design of windings and insulation are different from those of conventional one, and has its advantages.In this paper, a detailed and systematic analysis of the general multi-phase windings do not use complicated mathematical analysis obtained multiphase winding harmonic content. Then, point out principle of six-phase double star winding shifted by 30°, structure of winding and the characteristics of harmonic analysis.A 200 kW six-phase double star winding shifted by 30°synchronous motor is designed. After having multi-plan computation, overall evaluation each kind of factor, select one kind of best electromagnetism plan, and electromagnetic field analysis computation is developed by using the Ansoft software.For the double star winding shifted by 30°six-phase motor, after the injection of the third harmonic zero sequencer current in the phase current, for the winding asymmetry, zero-sequence current component is generated in each set of windings. Additional rotating magnetic field that rotated synchronous with fundamental wave magnetic, motor torque density is improved greatly. The motor control system is built with double-DSP system at the core of TMS320LF2407A. On the platform, some experiments were studied, and obtain satisfactory results. Designed method of six phase synchronous motor is verified that is correct.
