As the continuously development of our country national economy, structural loading capability of double-curved arch bridge becomes one of the problems that both the engineering and the academic pay much attention to. After it was firstly built in 1964, the double-curved arch bridge has been extensively built all over the country. During their construction and application, the loading Problem is also Paid attention to.It is very complex to analyze the internal forces of an existing double-curved arch bridge and obviously there are many shortcomings in traditional methods. According to the character of existing arch bridge, the finite element method is used to analyze the internal forces of the bridge. For example, according to surveyed coordinate we built a feasible finite element model for the Houhe, Hezhang County of Gui zhou Province Bridge using the block, with the finite element software midas civil. Combining the influence line with the pre-reinforcement space FE model, the internal force computed, then the main reasons of the disease are analyzed. According to the analysis and the service demand, the paper introduces the strengthening scheme of Houhe arch bridge and some new materials and new techniques applied considering the actual situation in site. The internal force and the dynamic analysis are also calculated with the post-reinforcement space FE model. Furthermore, the feasibility of the strengthening scheme is discussed.Based on the above work, valuable conclusions are obtained in the paper. FEM(finite element method) can simulate the actual situation of the existing bridges of joint cross-section, and may be used into the internal force analysis computation widely. The internal force analysis may provide the basis to choose the responsible strengthening scheme, which could be taken as reference by other existing construction.
