An Empirical Study On The Space Cognition Of Residents And Company Staffs In Lujiazui Financial District

In this paper, Lujiazui Financial District was chosen for the research site. With the empirical study on the residents and office workers' space cognition there, the author attempt to reflect the application of classic architecture theory nowadays, and focus on people's daily life integrating the space corporality and sociality.The book City Image has been published for more than forty years, from which the theory have been widely used in the urban design field. However, the discussion involved in a larger academic background and a typical research object is much more important.Our society is turning multi-directing and high-speeding when it comes into 21 century. Cities are increasing there population and urbanization process, at the mean while family members are decreasing. With the background of globalization,, the research focuses on the space cognition in the middle site of Lujiazui District, which is attractive the eyes of the foreign cultural researchers and away of the Chinese urban planner. The ways of questionnaires, interviews and cognitive map is involved in this dissertation.Although the topic is included the professional academic research field, the academic research has stepped into the other height with the introduction of two important theory, Henri Lefebvre's "everyday life" theory and "social stratification" theory of Lu Xueyi. Only when the space corporality and sociality has been integrated with the way of the three-dimensional thinking and exploration, can we truly understand the space and the survival's environment.
