The method, which is using the computer and software to simulate the performance of the diesel engine, is become an important and assistant role in modern diesel research area, and its property is also getting bigger and bigger. Computer simulation computation is advantage to the traditional way due to the low cost of research and development, high efficiency of research and short time.The purpose of this dissertation is modeling and simulating the diesel engine YC6T on computer, the software is GT-POWER. So firstly introduce the software GT-POWER and its theory and algorithm, which are involving the operation process in cylinder, air flow in pipes, heat transfer of wall temperature, combustion models and emission models. Then, use the software of GT-POWER to establish the virtual digital model on computer according to the real engine, which simulates and analyses the different performances via different operating conditions. The operating conditions involve speed characteristic and load bearing characteristic under 700r/min to 1500r/min. The model computation's result must carry on the comparison with the experimental value, examines the accuracy. Last is optimization design based on this virtual model, use the optimized module provided by the software to optimize the valve timing angles, the goal is promotes cylinder's charge efficiency, the power and the torque, reduces the fuel consumption rate. According to the computation obtained the optimized result and proposed improvement program.the calculation results can provide theoretic guidance for optimal designs of diesel engines for factory.
