The technology of condition monitoring and fault diagnosis is still in developing, therefore the research of analytic method in fault diagnosis and the gradual realization of its function is of great realistic significance. Combined with the project of"the Yangtze Hydropower Optimal Maintenance Information System", this article focuses on the analytic method of the monitoring and diagnosis of the hydroelectric generating sets, and realizes several functions in"the electric Generating Sets'Diagnosis Server".This article firstly summarizes the present situation of hydro plant's monitoring and diagnosis, describes its development trend, and points out the necessity of the analytic method in fault diagnosis. It then introduces the systematic framework of the units'general inspection and diagnosis server in the optimal maintenance of the information system, and probes into the content and methods of analytic functional extension. It also analyses the methods of communication self-checking in the course of system's self-checking and the fault detection of remote terminal unit temperature sensor, and the assessment method of oil system for hydro turbine governor and the upper cover pump system are also discussed.The software development adopts the design way of the Object-Oriented modularization, particularly designs the program flow of each analytic functional module and its database in details, thus upgrading the expandability and the maintainability of the software. In the course of analyzing the implement of the module, some technical problems have been solved including the multithreading mechanism, system timing processing and timesharing processing, as well as the database synchronization, etc.The application of self-checking system can detect the communication state in the course and monitoring the fault of remote terminal unit temperature sensor. The application of auxiliary equipment analysis function provides the basic analytic data to transmit electricity unit for its diagnosis analysis automatically.
