The long-term practice of preventive maintenance program has become increasingly incompatible with the requirements of the modern power companies which pursue the maximize effectiveness. This traditional maintenance system has expose the abuses such as blindly maintenance,deficient maintenance and excess maintenance. In order to improve the utilization and reliability of hydroelectric equipments and achieve maximum cost-effectiveness, the power companies have paid attention to the condition maintenance system.Combine with the subproject named"Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis System of Governor"of the"Hydro Power Plant Optimal Maintenance Information System", which are cooperated with the GEZHOUBA Hydropower Plant of China Yangtze Power Co. Ltd, this paper researches on condition monitoring and analysis system for Hydropower Generator Unit (HGU). This paper point out the necessity and importance of carried out the condition monitoring and analysis research for the control system of the hydropower generator unit based on comprehensive analysis the status and development trend of condition monitoring and analysis system for the hydropower generator unit. Based on the research on the Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis System of Governor, a high reliability monitoring method was pointed out which is adapted to the practical application of the hydropower plant. The method is based on hardware disturbance resistance and software filtering, integrated with information validity detection, information redundancy tolerance and system self-diagnosis. The nicety and reliability of the monitoring information are insured. It takes a solid foundation for analysis the equipments of the governor system. By using the highly reliable monitoring method, this paper points out the unit real-time conditions and performance testes evaluation system, as well as the calculation methods. It provides the theoretical reference and practical use for maintenance of the governor system equipments.Finally, a real-time,embedded condition monitoring and diagnosis system for governor system has been designed and developed which is based on the research of real-time monitoring and analysis technology for HGU. By using field-bus technology, this system has achieved information sharing and integration and enhanced the utilization of information and system expansibility. The running results have showed that it can achieve real-time monitoring, historical review, data processing, condition analysis, and other functions. It has many good performances such as opening, interactive, expansibility, as well as provides the necessary information for fault diagnosis. This system provides a solid foundation for optimal maintenance of HGU. Using this system has saved the manpower and resources of operation and maintenance. It also has effectively improved the maintenance quality and the effectiveness and economy of maintenance of HGU. It has a very important significance for gradually achieving condition maintenance of hydropower plants.
