In this paper, the data systems of DIII-D, JET, LHD and other Tokamaks are investigated. Subsequently, some conclusions of their common points, advantages and disadvantages come out. According to the study and the features of J-TEXT Tokamak, we design and set up our own data system. The whole system based on client/server structure can be divided into two major parts: data acquisition and data serviceThe hardware of data acquisition is constructed by using industrial computers with PCI data acquisition cards embeded. The programming of data acquisition is based on LabVIEW language. The system contains three sub-blocks: the parameter acquistion sub-system, data acquisition sub-system and data transmission sub-system. In the paper, the introduction to every sub-system's functions, design proposals and processing chart is given in detail. Besides those, the null shift problem occurring in the system is also discussed and a solution of which is provided. The data service system is builded up around the MDSplus toolkit. This detailedintroduction to the characters of MDSplus is given in the text. A series of designs and solutions are proposed aiming to construct MDSplus saving structures, create model tree and service fuction. The in-depth study and testing of the performance of the fulfilled J-TEXT data system is carried out thoroughly.The J-TEXT data system is already functioned in the discharge cleaning experiment successfully. The results of the experiment show that the system is stable, realiable and easily handled. The suggestion to the coming problems in future experiments and the issues of upgrade are discussed at the end of the text.
