With the development of the power electronic technology and the wide use of power electronic equipments,reactive power compensation is becoming more and more serious.Static Synchronous Compensator is an effective way to deal with reactive power and it has become one of the hot points in power electronics fields recently.This research is to build up a set of equipment to validate STATCOM principle,develop an analog-digital hybrid control system and realize of direct-current control method based on instantaneous reactive power theory.In this paper,the necessity of the reactive power compensation and the merits of STATCOM are firstly analyzed.Secondly,the principle of STATCOM is introduced. Established in the characters of Customer STATCOM,two specific control methods based on instantaneous reactive power theory are presented to deal with reactive power in different industry conditions,and the math formulas are given.In the following section the realization of the whole system is presented,including the design of main circuit structure and parameters,the analog-digital hybrid control circuit based on DSP(TMS320C32) and the program for the DSP system.Then the simulation results obtained with Matlab and experimental results are presented. Finally,the conclusions are drew based on all the above research.The technology is feasible and the work based on this paper has established a fairly good groundwork for the further research on STATCOM.
