Substation network has many types of equipments, power lines and geographic information closely relation etc features, Reduce the fault, improve the reliability and stability, all of this affects directly user's production and living, in recent years, many power enterprise devote a lot to improving the quality and level of substation network management.GIS,a geographical research technology, has been developed greatly since 1960s . It 's a kind of comprehensive technology integrating knowledge of computer science, mapping and remote sensing, geography environmental science, space science, information management science . The study of GIS and its data-structure which is congruous with the situation of power system, especially substation system,is very valuable and practical for improving the reliability of the power system and efficiency of power network management. At the present time, substation topology analysis as the basic module of Substation Management System has been thought highly of. Moreover, the use of Power Analysis System and the operation of substation system operators also depend on the result of topology analysis. However, general topology algorithms can not be applied to substation system directly and the characteristics of substation system should be taken into account to modify the existent topology algorithms. In the first, this thesis carries out an in-depth study to the substation equipment management function , analyzes the feasibility of equipment custom symbols, and discusses the process of realize correlation functions of equipment parameters and graphical elements. Secondly, substation system has two major characteristics, one is that power network is complex in structure; the other is that the number and the category of equipment are both large . Breadth-First-Search (BFS) algorithm based on GIS is adopted for the two characteristics of substation system and the original data demand of advanced application software. On the basis of the theoretical research work, this paper develops independently a substation system on which substation network topology analysis is achieved. At the end of the paper, the practicality of all functions within the system is validated through the testing.
