In recent years, as the transportation develops, traffic noise pollution is becoming more and more serious, so controlling traffic noise has been one of problems which urgent need to be solved in our country, and also been one of the hot topics in current environment acoustics studies.Noise reduction of barrier is mainly described by the insertion loss, this article will use boundary element method to predict insertion loss of noise barrier. When calculating insertion loss by BEM, materials of barrier, shape of barrier and ground surface type can be involved. There are many kinds of top shapes of noise barrier, this paper will calculate insertion loss of noise barrier with different top shapes and do a comparative analysis. When noise barriers have the same materials, the same height and the external environment, Noise barrier with different top shape will be calculated and analyzed, then comparing noise reduction of noise barrier with different top shape at different frequencies.Through simulating and computing the traditional barrier, T-profile barrier, Y-profile barrier, arrow-profile barrier, the result indicates that T-profile barrier have good noise reduction, and optimizing T-barrier, increasing the depth of cap, the result indicates that it has a negligible effect upon the insertion loss; T-profile barrier with QRD has a positive effective upon the insertion loss.
