The purpose of this dissertation is to study the steering system of airplane tractor. Airplane tractor, mainly utilized to pull or draw planes, is an indispensable ground security device in modern airport, whose running efficiency is mainly contingent upon its steering system. Major contributions are listed in the following:It collects relative data about the steering system of airplane tractor. It analyzes four kinds of steering systems, that is, mechanical steering system, hydraulic steering system, electronics-hydraulic steering system, and electronics steering system. Moreover, combining the features of airplane tractor with the special requirements of its steering system, it presents two electronics-hydraulic steering systems: one is to employ four electro-hydraulic proportional valves to control four hydraulic cylinders; the other is to use flow proportional valve to control the two sets of implementing parts. According to the result of the analysis, one of the steering systems is chosen. Hence, parameters of the hydraulic system in this steering system get determined; the valve-controlled cylinder model of airplane tractor's steering system and the steering trapezium model between the steering hydraulic ram and the wheel are analyzed; based on the relationship connection between the flux in the steering system and the wheel rotation angle deduced through two submodels, the kinematics model of airplane tractor's steering system is established; with the application of the MSC.EASY5 software, the electronics-hydraulic steering system of airplane tractor is simulated. And result of the simulation proves that the system can meet the running requirements of the steering system of airplane tractor.
