Based on the experiments and finite element model analysis, the effect on the nearby tunnel structures of metro line 2 due to the vibrations induced by the railway trains on the underground Diameter line which connects two of the biggest railway stations in Beijing was studied. The full scale vibration experiments were performed in Underground Engineering Laboratory of Beijing Jiaotong University to provide the experimental verification for establishing a reasonable numerical prediction model. The vibration characteristics in the nearby tunnel were obtained by processing and analyzing experimental results. Moreover, the relationship betweenΔVL &ΔVAL was given obtained the statistical analysis of experiments data and theoretical analysis.Based on the dynamic finite element model using MIDAS/GTS, the response in the tunnel of Underground Engineering Laboratory was calculated. The results show the finite element model can be used to predict the vibrations in the underground structures.A dynamic train-track interaction model was used to simulate the excitations in the subgrade or the tunnel invert, after that, the dynamic finite element model was used to predict the effect on the nearby Changchunjie metro station structures of metro line 2 due to the vibration induced by railway trains on the underground Diameter line.
