Retractable roof structure is a new kind of architecture form, of which roof can be partially or entirely open or closed to make the structure be used in both of the behaviors. Compared to traditional structures, there is a maximal characteristic called moving condition. Besides the structure motion (deformation of structure under the load action), a special behavior exists in it—the open and close procedure of the structure. The measure of this procedure can't be ignored compared with the unitary structure. We call it kinetic structure. In allusion to this feature, we need to exploit methods to cut down the loss which is made by the collision of the moving roves.It summarizes the feature of the element partition type, drive, and the moving mechanism of retractable roof structure, classifies the possible ways of the roof collision; According to the success and the failure experience of the built structure, generalizes the security evaluation principle of this structure.Drawing lessons from the relative theories of the collision study of ships and vehicles, the collision analysis is done on specific components to find the energy-absorption machine which can be used in real projects. The calculation model is established based on the LS-DYNA technique. Energy-absorption character of the quadrate steel pipe has been studied in two aspects—axial direction collision and radial collision. Conclusions are made that section style, length, thickness and whether the port is shedding or not have relations to the energy-absorption capacity. At last, a real project is taken for example to observe the energy assignment and the impact force. Then energy-absorption machines are fitting on it to check if they can protect the structure when collisions occur among the roves.
