Type Comparative Analysis And Design On Urban Water Landscape

As Modern urban water landscape born in contemporary society was built in artificial surrounding, it plays an essential role on urban culture and resident activities. In addition, water landscape often on open space formed a particular spiritual site, a important aspect in which city can develop and promote its imagine, with main elements from other landscapes, so water landscape needs to not only maintain consistency, sociability, even pursue higher aesthetic value. There is, however, state of "loss of memory" in modern urban water landscape. As the one side of "loss of memory" in modern architect environment, it contributes directly to monotonous water surrounding in modern city, and weak identity, The phenomenon is mainly influenced by modernism thought which has cut off the transmission of history culture, as well as various confused collages in reality. To solve the problem of"loss of memory ", it is necessary to for people to evoke "collective memory". In my dissertation, method of typology will be applied to research water types, in order to evoke "collective memory". Firstly, this dissertation enumerated some questions at the development of modern urban water landscape of China. After comparing these types of water landscape, through vertical and horizontal axis of history, space and form is more distinct than in the past and summarized differences. Moreover, I took advantage of five elements of "urban image" to analyze the application range of water functional types. Meanwhile, this dissertation enumerated the application range of forms of water landscape. At last, this dissertation summed up the application methods and drawn a conclusion that"collective memory"can be evoked only when forms and function are in harmony. In short, Modern urban water landscape not only can meet requirement of function, but also arouse spiritual resonance, especially reach a higher spiritual plane.
