This paper is starting from the research of the electromechanical effect mechanism of synchronous generator, pointed that the swing of the rotor in parallel operation power system is the relative motion of revolving field between rotor and stator after all. The current formed the revolving field of the stator decided by two factors: one is the MMF of the rotor current; the other is the MMF of the stator current. Then the size and phrase of the stator current mainly depends onthe conditions of the network structure of the power system. In the dq0 coordinate, it can beresolved into two components according to the rotor's place. In the research it can be found that when the rotor of the synchronous generator swing with respect to the revolving field of the stator, if the available electric potential E' (E'_q) of generator is diminish with the power angle'senlargement for the effect of armature(It is mainly the effect of the vertical axis components of stator current), it can lead to the negative damp of the swing.To counter this factor of physics, we can draw a conclusion:â‘ The change of I_d reflected the swing of the rotor, and using it as the signal of the excitation damp regulator canreflect the physics reality mostly. d~2I_d/dt~2 can be regard as the dump force moment(the kineticforce of which cause the swing);â‘¡Using d~2I_d/dt~2 as the control signal to make-up theadjustment of the excitation can damp the swing of the rotor effectively, and this affect with very good robustness can fit the change of power system condition. On the base of this theory, we have accomplished the design of the excitation regulator, and test it on the power system digital simulation platform. In order to prepare the physical test, we design the model machine. In this paper we introduced the software and hardware of the model machine, and now the model machine will accomplish soon.
