Augmented Assembly is a technology that apply augmented reality into the assembly area, aiming at reducing costs and improving efficiency of production. In this paper, we analyzed the integration of virtual-physical scenes in augmented assembly system. The integration technology contains three modules, including assembly model, augmented registration and video overlay.First, we designed a mixed assembly model contains geometric model of parts, assembly constraint model and assembly hierarchy model. The difference between traditional assembly model and mixed assembly model is that the latter both contains virtual parts and physical parts. Augmented assembly system deals each kind of parts with different approach. Consider with the character of mix assembly model, we discussed the management of the mixed model in prototype system.Second, we discussed the registration process of augmented assembly system. This paper presented the implementation of mark-based registration technology based on computer vision in augmented assembly system. We analyzed the fixed threshold and adaptive threshold method for image segmentation, and then employed least square method to refine the corner of the mark, and therefore the accuracy of the registration is enhanced.Third, this paper presents the implementation of the video overlay technology in augmented assembly system. We used depth map to solve the occlusion problem of assembly parts. With the help of depth index our prototype augmented assembly system integrated virtual scene and physical scene correctly. Finally, we presented an augmented assembly prototype system that demonstrated the assembly process of virtual-physical parts and the evaluation of assembly sequence.
