As one of the main components of Train Crane, reasonable design and mechanical analysis for Telescopic boom is of great significance.Nowadays, as the market competition is getting much more stern, the Train Crane is aimed at the development of great tonnage and high performance,so that the percentage of telescopic boom's of the whole device will increased and the performance of telescopic boom could be intensify .According to these,it is necessary to investigate the telescopic boom thoroughly,to analysis it with accurate method so as to approach to the every design target. With the finite element software—ANSYS as tool, The thesis discussed the telescopic boom of QTJS160 train crane and analyzed the most dangerous work condition.First, the general mechanical analysis model were made with beam element and the whole stress and the shape changing of the telescopic boom structure were calculated. Secondly, finite element model with shell element were constructed, the partial stress and shape changing of the telescopic boom in the chosen loading circumstance were calculated and provided the foundation for the finite element analysis of the telescopic boom strength as well as rigidity under the designed load. Meanwhile,in this thesis, the model analysis of the telescopic boom structure were made, the indigenous frequency and vibration style of the structure were also confirmed as the begingning analysis of other dynamics problems.Last but not the least, the local stability of the telescopic boom structure was analyzed and the critical buckling stress was caculated to testify its local stability. The result in the most dangerous working conditions indicates that the intensity and rigidity of the telescopic boom structure is insufficient in the initial design which should to be improved. In this project, all boundry constraints and loads were simulated as the real working environment, so the results was of high credibility which provided technical basis for the technicians to improve and optimize the telescopic boom structure. This method can also be spreaded in other analysis of the telescopic boom structures .
