Automated Mechanical Transmission (AMT) is formed by combining automated shift control system with the traditional fixed Mechanical Transmission (MT). It has great potential market due to its high transfer efficiency, low cost and easiness to manufacture. As an important functional module in AMT, automated clutch has great effect on the quality of AMT. The performance of automated clutch depends on its control system. For preventing automated clutch control system from uncertainties and external perturbations, the robust sliding mode controller is designed to guarantee automated system to trace the optimal engagement laws. At the first, automated clutch dynamic mode is established in the present dissertation. Based on automated clutch dynamic mode, the sliding mode controller is designed and it is simulated in Matlab/Simulink environment. Comparing to PID controller, the sliding mode controller has better control performance.During traditional development flow of AMT automated clutch electronic system, the control algorithm is validated after completing hardware development. This method can't meet the demands of fierce competition of modern automobile industry. In the present dissertation, a new Rapid Control Prototype (RCP) system of AMT automated cutch based on dSPACE platform is constructed and the developed automated clutch controller is carried on the bench in the real time environment. The results prove the efficiency of the sliding mode controller. The sliding control algorithm developed in the present dissertation improves the quality of AMT automated clutch. The RCP system of AMT automated clutch constructed in the present dissertation can conveniently, rapidly and efficiently validate the control algorithm. All above is important to AMT system development both in research and application aspects.
