It is widely received that urban waterfront district is the highlight of national city development, not only social but economical values are implicative, its unique ecological niche makes it an ecological region with structure and function that has vitality most. This research commences on theory of landscape planning on urban waterfront district, on the basis of experiences and lessons from landscape planning of cities domestic and overseas, analyzing the planning policy from the government, the orientation and target of the plan are established, the research of landscape matrix, patches and corridor, by the description of function division, construction land planning, road and traffic organization, water surface planning, making the point that the landscape planning of urban waterfront promotes the energy flow and sustainable development of the whole region. Reference value and beneficial exploration are established for the landscape planning of urban waterfront district in china.1. Theory and experience of planningFirstly, this paper enumerates related theory of landscape planning, including landscape ecology theory and theory of urban planning. Secondly, concept and scope of urban waterfront are defined, as well as its role during development of modern city. Thirdly, after describing the planning practice of cities domestic and overseas, their development characteristics and problems are analyzed, then experiences and methods of waterfront planning are summarized.2. Analysis on orientation and target of planningAccording to the present situation investigation of infrastructures such as riverbank, beach land, vegetations and bridges, combined with requirements of the plan, the followed questions are analyzed based on practical situations: landscape features, resources utilization, infrastructures status, etc. Then problems of the studied area are discussed, they're: landscape characteristics, infrastructures, improvement of freight accessibility,utilization of resources,economical functions, traffic network and organization structure, etc. Then through orientation researches on eco-environment and material/nonmaterial functions of studied area, general planning targets of shenyang Hun River's waterfront are established. They're: sustainable development of urban waterfront, city full of energy, multi-function mixed urban waterfront, unfolding the image of city.3. Landscape planning(1) Landscape matrix analysisOn the basis of orientation and target of Hun River's waterfront planning, four construction areas are divided as landscape matrix; they're historical and cultural district, new residential community on east, new central segment of the city, ecological residential districts on the west. Functions of each district are described, concrete implementation plan of beach land, vegetations, river banks are analyzed. Meanwhile, on the basis of area of each landscape matrix district, its structural variation is quantitative analyzed.(2) Landscape patches analysisOn the basis of statistics on area of planning land, construction land's patch structure in the matrix area is studied. According to general planning targets, there's three ways for land development intensity control: First, dense-sparse relationship of architectural layout should be adjusted properly; Second, Forming of view corridors and open spaces by construction layout or combination of open spaces or low-rise-large-scale public buildings, is beneficial to air flow and improvement of urban micro-climate. Third, improving of floor area ratio and building coverage of public buildings, increase the development intensity by some level when infrastructures status is suitable.(3) Landscape corridor analysisTraffic facility planning, Traffic organization planning, water surface utilization planning are analyzed based on theories of landscape corridor, on the Premise of natural environment conservation, improvement of freight accessibility, fulfilling of mass flow and energy flow is to be improved, Specific as road network planning, parking lots planning, vehicle traffic organization, public traffic organization, bicycle traffic organization, walking traffic organization and conservation and utilization of waterways. Integrated with experiences from planning practice, statements are summarized so as to provide reference value of theory and beneficial exploration on landscape planning of urban waterfront in china.(1) Landscape ecological structures should be protected. Multi-functional land use, river channel land use, natural vegetation and landscape pattern conservation should be with top priority.(2) Protection and restoration of reasonable eco-system, purification of water and assurance of width and connection degree of river to give full play to the river's ecological corridor function.(3) Protection and restoration of diversified patches and corridors of ecological greenbelt around waterfront, so as to play a key role out of ecological functions.(4) Paying attention to traffic network designing, in order to forming environmental and resource-saving transportation pattern.(5) Enhancement integral function designing of waterfront division, make sure the order of energy flow to promote the sustainable development of the entire area.
