With the rapid development of latticed shells, optimum design have become a point which needs to be studied for a long time, optimum design of latticed shells has great sense for cost reduction of latticed shells and its extension and application. In allusion to latticed shells, analysis about its stability is also a key problem in design. In this thesis, the ball gymnasium included in the gymnasium project of the habitation of TALIMU oil field filiale was adopted as a practical work, optimum for members'cross areas and two kinds of stability problems of the latticed shells are studied. And the major content is as follows:Firstly, the investigation development and some existing process in optimum design of latticed shells presently are commented, the practical work is modeled using the general-purpose software——ANSYS(edition 10.0), members'cross areas are optimized two chief conditions bellow are considered: 1.2 times dead load adding 1.4times live load, 0.9 times dead load adding 1.4 times wind load. The result obtained from calculation shows the objects that save steel and increase economic benefit are attained.Secondly, the method of analysis in latticed shells'problem of stability is discussed, the basic theories of two kinds of stability problems are expounded, and there are two sorts of models in analysis about stability of latticed shells: one is discrete, the other is continuous, both of the two sorts of models is studied. The complete process analysis, deficiency analysis and experiment study of latticed shells are discussed, too.Finally, the practical work is analysed separately under the two kinds of stability problem, hereinto, the first kind of stability is linear, the second kind of stability is nonlinear, according as cross section border fiber yield criterion. After calculation, stability factors of two kinds of stability analysis under all kinds of conditions are obtained, two kinds of stability of practical work are evaluated, the suggestions on reinforce stability are brought forth, the states of normal stress distribute, which is obtained from all kinds of conditions in the second kind of stability analysis, are drew as nephograms. And the results obtained from two kinds of stability analysis are compared, the merits and necessity of carrying through the second stability analysis are pointed.
