Lithium-Ion/Lithium-Polymer battery is a new kind of rechargeable battery developed since 90's. Its high energy density and long life make it very suitable for practical applications, especially in hybrid electric vehicle energy storage system.On the basis of the analysis of the principles of electrochemistry and external characteristics, this paper focuses on the charge methods, cell equalization and the construction of Lithium-Ion/Lithium-Polymer battery smart management system. Experiment results and detailed designs of a linear charger, a switch-mode charger, charging and discharging protection circuit based on FS312, equalization circuit based on TL431 intelligent management system based on DSP2407A are presented.
