Industrial CT technology (Computerized Tomography technology) has been developed, which can test objects without any destroying .Based on two-dimensional slices and three-dimensional images, the structure and measurement of the objects can be got. It is easier to shorten the design time of production and reduce the cost of design and producing.However,the slice images gained by industrial CT scanning are displayed and saved in the form of BMP format, which can not be applied to reverse engineering directly. So this dissertation has developed a pre-processing system for reverse engineering, which is established on the basis for the application of industrial CT technology .The three function modules of this system as follows:Image pre-processing module: On edge detection, a segmentation algorithm of images based on combination of the advanced methodology of edge-searching and Canny algorithm has been adopted, which is better in denoising and improves the precise of edge information. Also, according to the differences of industrial CT images, the edge detection can be processed by setting different thresholds. On the aspect of grey images pre-process, a better image edge can be gained by eight-neighbor contour tracking , denoising method based on rules and man-machine conversation way.Contour fitting module: By adopting, optimizing and analyzing parameters on contour subsection method, subsection line fitting method and arc fitting method, an accurate image edge of vectorization can be obtained.Data format transform module: The output of vectorization are 2-D, 3-D format and self-definition format, which are international standard formats. Those formats can be inputted into CAD softwares, such as ImageWare,Pro/E for reverse engineering.By using VC++ language, software engineering and Object Oriented technology, a stable and reliable pre-processing system for reverse engineering has been developed, which has been tested feasibly and workably.
