Beam String Structure (BBS) is becoming more and more popular in areas as curtain wall support and long-span space structures because of its novel forms and good performance,now it shows great potential and good future. These years, for the great development of BBS, the extensive use of BBS, Traditional analysis method cann't be used in project any more, and now the existing CAE software are not designed for BBS, so it will take a long time for the users to learn. What's more, they lack the ability to integrate with CAD, support engineering modeling and engineering post-processing, which troubles the engineering application analysis a lot. This paper analyzed the features of BBS and the needs of CAE system for Beam String Structure analysis. Based on the studies on the CAE system for Beam String Structure analysis and its core technologies, a professional CAE software special for the Beam String Structure analysis is developed.First, based on the analysis of the CAE software available and CAE needs for Beam String Structure analysis, this paper put forward a software architecture blue print for Beam String Structure with AutoCAD as the graphics-processing platform which can supply form-finding and load analysis for Beam String Structure.Second, this paper made research on the core technologies for developing the CAE system for Beam String Structure, such as several form finding method and processor for FEA, parametric design and engineering modeling based on constraints.After analyzing some common form-finding method of BSS, it presented a mode integrated form-finding and loading equilibrium state which can be chosen by user. Based on CAE system for Beam String Structure analysis it presented a kind of parametric design language C-BPDL and the architecture of its processor especially for Beam String Structure analysis, which can greatly enhance compound features of the system. It is also helpful to further developing for the system, batch commands processing, parametric design of structure analysis and simplifying the operation flows. Based on the analysis of the constraints of the engineering model for Beam String Structure, this paper summarized the fundamental principles of engineering modeling and presented a visual engineering modeling method. It enhanced the efficiency of pre-processing for engineering application analysis and widened the system's application area. At last, based on the studies on the core technologies of the system, taking AutoCAD as the graphics-processing platform, the CAE system for Beam String Structure is developed. The system is characterized by friendly operation interface, convenient operation, broad applicability and powerful post-processing. The system has been applied in several enterprises, with good performance.
