With the developing of the airbag technology, the airbags have been applied in more and more ways. As a multifunctional equipment ,the airbags have some significant advantages, such as small fold volume, lighter weight, more convenient transportation, lower cast and higher reliability, and so on. Especially, in the research area of life support system, the attention and interests will be increasing rapidly. In this paper, the controlling equations of airbag deployment have been analyzed and the theories of penalty method and control volume method in the simulation of airbag deployment have been discussed too. Based on the airbag model in the LS-DYNA, the simulation has been done successfully and the rule of the airbag deployment with the different mass flux has been studied too.On the other hand, in order to testify the accuracy of the simulation, the test has been made. A simplified airbag has been designed and used to deploy in the different mass flux. The results have been recorded by the date collection machine and compared with the simulation dates. This paper also proposes some new concepts about the biggest secure volume and pressure. The results shows that: 1. the modeling established for airbag inflation in this paper is applicable; 2. in the process of deployment, the bigger the mass flux is, the higher the velocity of inflation is, but the connection between them is not linearity . 3. High velocity causes unsteady deployment.
