The Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) has developed into a very important method of machining, and played an irreplaceable role in industry. As an integral part of the EDM system, the performance of EDM pulse power supply will be the main infection to the technic index of EDM.Further, with the rapid development of digital control technique, performance of digital signal controller (DSC) enhances, and DSC has been used more widely. Perfect performance is obtained when it is used in power electronics applications. It supports the possibility to the digital control of EDM pulse power supply.A LCC resonant converter EDM pulse power supply based on digital control is proposed in this paper. Research indicates that phase-shifted control LCC resonant converter has good ZVS characteristic and load adaptability. It gives attention to simplify the circuit organization and make it more efficient.At first, the operation of LCC resonant converter is analyzed in detail, and the steady model is built using the analysis in the form of fundamental sinusoidal approximation. A comprehensive parameter design procedure is proposed based on its steady model. An entire solution of DSC controlled EDM pulse power supply is finished with a digital signal controller by Microchip company aim to fulfill EDM power supply design request, including power circuit design and software design. A prototype demo is developed, and experiments on prototype demo validate the perfect performance of the digital controlled EDM pulse power supply.
