Current meter is an important application in current measurement, which is the basis of the marine research. Acoustic current velocity measurement technology plays an important role in the fields of marine research, hydrology resources, flood hazard forecasting, water resource management and national defence.When spreads in the flowing liquid, ultrasonic wave can carry the information of the current velocity of fluid, therefore, it's possible to Measure the current velocity of fluid through the receiving ultrasonic wave. This thesis has first studied the measurement theory of time-difference ultrasonic current meter, include the derivating the theory formula, theoretically analyzing the transmission character of ultrasonic wave in fluid, and the measurement and estimation methods of the delay time. On the basis of the system performances and requirements, designed the whole scheme of the ultrasonic current mature, comprehensively discussing the thinking of the system design, the hardware, the software processing, the solutions of key technologies, and simulation.In this system, one ultra low-power MCU MSP430 is used as the main control chip, one TMS320C6416 is used as the digital signal processing chip, and FPGA of Xinlinx Company is used as the logic control chip. In the receiveing cirucuit, the special ADC and AGC chips from ADI Company are used to simplify the circuit. This scheme is an efficient, accurate method in current velocity measurement than that by traditional methods.
