Vector hydrophone is a new concept hydrophone and is characterized by small size, high sensitivity and good low frequency directivity, etc. It is extensively applied in practical hydroacoustic engineering.The appearance of the series of standards IEEE1451 for intelligent transducers solves the problem of standardization of intelligent transducer interface, provides new ways for the intelligent transducers to complete self-identification, self-description and connect with networks. Therefore, the combination of vector hydrophone technology and intelligent transducer technology will facilitate the application of vector hydrophone.The paper conducts an in-depth study of the IEEE1451 standards for intelligent transducer interface and analyzes the principles of mixed modes interface and TEDS electronic bill; it also studies the classification and features of vector hydrophone, outlines the equivalent electric circuit of co-vibrating vector hydrophone that adopts piezoelectric sensing element and designs the intelligent interface circuit for vector hydrophone with corresponding functions that meets the standards. The paper also conducts an in-depth study of CANBUS bus protocol, designs and develops CAN bus communication module.The intelligent interface hardware platform for vector hydrophone, which meets the standards of the protocol, consists of embedded processors of low power consumption, high-speed and parallel data collectors, CANBUS adapters and transceivers. It can perform high-speed and parallel data collection and transmit the data via CAN bus network. Control program suitable for interface application has been developed.
