Clay spread out the earth's surface , area is very broad in Harbin. Judging from whose cause of formation, category river alluvial or ices stain but is accomplished, from the project talks on significance, peculiar clay project character and application, soil bears the weight of force and their shoring valuation waiting for aspect, suit especially to foundation high-rise, the rock soil project reconnaissance surpassing high-rise deep basis , deep base pit, governs , detecting , shoring design etc. is especially important. The clay intensity , deformation characteristic property, the building or clay side slope deformation on bringing about clay foundation surely destroys, rift happened in the messenger building , deformation destroys even. Therefore, the characteristic property analysis has theory and actual project significance to the clay intensity , deformation.Regardless of clay being building foundation , building material or architectural vicinity of ground medium, if wedon't thought over the intensity , deformation characteristic property or take appropriate measures carefully in design and construction , it will be affect use and safety of building reliable , brings about deformation. The accident is encountered many times, especially subgrade problem coming across in northeast China project in our country in actual engineering construction , major part all is clay intensity , deformation problem. Clay is main property of soil in northeast China , intensity or deformation characteristic property is the basis of the building stability .This paper mainly studies the strength softening characteristic of clay by triaxial shear test on the basis of primary research productions of loess.Firstly, this paper simply introduces triaxial shear test of generality clay , and analyzes the main influence factors of test productions, and brings forward some proceedings which improving triaxial shear test should notice.Secondly, on the basis of analyzing the stress-strain relationship curves of generality clay with three different water contents from laboratory in Heilongjiang province builds the science research institute and Xuanqing Xiaoqu in NanGang District of Harbin, the stress-strain relationship curves of generality clay are divided into two types: progressive hardening type and post peak-soften type. This paper compares the stress-strain relationship curves of generality clay under same water content and different circumference pressure; compares the stress-strain relationship curves of generality clay under same circumference pressure and different water content; analyzes the relationship curves of utmost strength and water content and circumference pressure of generality clay; analyzes the relationship curves of cohesion and angle of internal friction and water content of generality clay. From them obtain some regular conclusions, they can provide reference for projects.Finally, this paper establishs mathematical models for two stress-strain relationship curves of progressive hardening type and post peak-soften type of generality clay, a method of determining parameters in two mathematical models is established, and compares the test stress-strain relationship curves with ones computed by two mathematical models, validates applicability of mathematical models.
