Natural gas is a kind of highly efficient and clean energy resources, so it's an ideal energy source for the cities. To spread the natural gas in the cities as a major public fundamental facility is regarded as one of the most important markers of modern civilized cities, and also an important part of national energy resources construction. We have abundant natural gas resource in China, but it is not evenly distributed. This means a great number of pipeline net work are needed. On the other hand, many aging pipeline net work in the cities are needed to be replaced; and pipeline net work are also pined for in many newly built housing estate. All of these calls for a new programming and designing.This paper, based on advanced theories and the analysis to the various aspects in the process of providing gas to the pipeline net work, sets up an optimizing model of providing gas to the pipeline net work, and adopts inherent method to work out the answer to the model and applies this to the practice. The paper has a detailed description to the model and the process of working out. It solves the question of optimization layout of city natural gas pipeline network system successfully.
