With the implementation of the Grand Development Plan of Western China in the 21st century, the highway construction expand rapidly in the northwest region. However, Xinjiang region is located on the north edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, under the influence of the collision,squeeze between the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate, Neotectonic movement is active, earthquake tectonic growth, earthqukes happen frequently, active fault is characterized the overall distribution of density and strong activity, road construction projects will face a serious threat to active faults disasters. So, the research on active faults and its harm on the highway project in xinjiang region is of great theoretical and a practical significance.However, the reasearch of active faults in xinjiang region is very less and mainly to some areas. This article research work is subsidized by "the western state transportation construction projects" (200431881212), which is manage by my tutor Professor Peng Jianbing. Through large-scale field survey work and detailed analysis of interior, combined with previous research results, the first systematic analysis the distribution of the Xinjiang region 41 Holocene active faults and its activities, and sum up the basic characteristics of the active faults pattern and its relationships with deep structure, stress distribution and modern.continental dynamics.Active faults have a serious hazard to the highway engineering facilities in the region. On the basis of GPS location the intersection position of the active faults with the road and obsercing the phenomenon of the road hazards caused by the active faults, combine the results of indoor collation, analysis and summary, propose the destruction mechanism and the type of highway engineering disasters caused by the activities of faults. And, use FLAC3D, The establishment of the active faults and highways under different perspective on the intersection of Highway road numerical model, by numerical terms, of active faults in the road surface under the influence of the deformation, and compared the observed phenomena. Provide reference and basis for the xinjiang first-class highway's scientific route selection and the construction.
