Three main trusses steel bridge with rigid cable is an novel and complicated structure. tower column of stiffening chord structure is the key member,there isn't the basis of its stability calculation in previous example . take the example of Dongjiang Bridge,making use of the analytical solution and finite element numerical analysis,the stability of tower column and stiffening chord at construction stage and service stage were analyzed.At first,judging buckling mode of the stiffening chord, the tower column,the suspender in the installation process,and instability forms of suspender and tower column under across-wind load. Then studying the in-plane stability of tower column which was isolated from the full-bridge model,the effect of stiffening chord and main girder were replaced with elastic support. At last,studying the stability of the sway frame composed of portal frame, fulcrum column, upper and lower crossbeam. the result showed:â‘ long suspenders should be reinforced temporarily at stiffening chord construction stage.â‘¡The effects of the suspenders and the stiffening chord's alignment can be ignored when analyzing stability of tower column in plane of stiffening chord. The effective length coefficient of The tower column of this kind of Trusses Steel Bridge could be selected between 0.65 to 0.8.â‘¢The effective length coefficient of the out-of-plane stability of tower column can be taked value from the Code for design of steel Structure (GB50017-2003) about sway frame.
